Tiny Diamond HomesI have been fortunate enough to be in communication with Cheryl Coates and her family as well as their business – Tiny Diamond Homes – for nearly a year now. My first impression was of a company that believed very strongly in putting out a product that they themselves would be proud to live in.

Steve Coates is the master carpenter and head carpenter for Tiny Diamond. Steve started his carpentry career in April of 1985, where he lead his 3 man crew in framing 117 custom homes up to 3000 sq.ft.in – one every 11 days remarkably enough! Cheryl spent a long and prosperous career as a registered nurse. She is the “voice on the other line” when you contact Tiny Diamond and she believes in giving each customer personal attention. Steve and Cheryl’s son Ian Volkel is a Marine Corps veteran and a skilled carpenter with an eye for detail. Middle son Jerrod Volkel is also a Marine Corps veteran and joins the Tiny Diamond team as an AutoCad specialist. Oldest son Nick Volkel has been building with Steve for a decade and is experienced with heavy machinery, plumbing, and tile work. He also works as a full time ICU nurse.

The family is very much an average American family who works hard to bring affordable, well-constructed, attractive tiny homes to the public with their successful company Tiny Diamond Homes.
